Max, Paul and Simon have been friends for 35 years. It has been a joyful, lasting friendship with no issues. While their professional lives have been successful, their private lives have had their ups and downs. One evening the three friends are meeting up to play cards “Chez Max”. Simon looks totally crushed and tells his friends that he has had a row with his wife Estelle and that in a fit of anger, he strangled her. Max and Paul are very alarmed, especially when Simon begs them to give him an alibi, so he can escape a prison sentence. Max and Paul are not sure… Should they lie to the police or betray their friend?
An Angélus master class delivered by Victoire Touton was organised on 23rd April in Boston by the prestigious Harvard University Wine Tasting Club.
Château Angélus closes this primeurs week, which has been a great success with many visitors and lively interest in the 2014 vintage.
This great vintage started with a tricky spring, then a hard summer filled with nothing but doubts except the fierce resolution that we would not give up and that we had to read the vines and understand their needs. Then from 25th August onwards, we enjoyed day after day of lovely weather and our confidence returned. We took risks and waited to start harvesting.
Finally, October came, which was a golden, warm, magnificent month, enabling us to delay harvesting the old Merlot vines for a few days and wait for the Cabernet Franc grapes to ripen fully.
The wines are very pure and elegant on the nose. The attack is finely chiselled, then the wine grows slowly bigger and bigger to reach a very refined balance between magnificent quality tannins, substance, tension and freshness. The 50% proportion of Cabernet Franc in the blend heightens the elegance of the tannic structure and makes the finish multilayered and long.
The sophisticated dishes of the Chabichou restaurant at Courchevel in the French Alps make beautiful music with Château Angélus wines.
Represented by Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, Angélus paid tribute to the young generation of players of Union Bordeaux Bègles rugby club by making a donation during the evening gala held on 5th March in the atrium of the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The donation was made to help sustain the club’s talent pool of young players, who will one day enter the professional team.
