Installation of foudres at Chateau Angelus

Hubert de Boüard de Laforest and Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal in front of the foudres that were installed this year. Always looking for new ways to refine and polish the estate’s winemaking techniques, foudres were acquired so as to complement Château Angélus traditional ageing in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels.

VINTAGE 2018, LE PHÉNIX

What an astonishing year with, in six months, more rainfall than normally in a whole year!
Except for a good flowering, the weather conditions made life difficult in the vines up till mid-July.

THE ANGELUS SOUND

by Yaron Herman

It is on the occasion of a dinner created by the Chef Yannick Alléno and hosted by Angélus in Hong Kong as part of Vinexpo 2018, that the Angelus sound has been officially revealed by Yaron Herman in a private concert.

The name Angélus alone conjures up the sound of church bells, the symbols of the estate found on the bottle labels, in its logo and bell tower. Angélus has sought to capture this unique sound and entrust it to the great jazz pianist Yaron Herman for the creation of the estate’s sound identity.

THE NEW DOCUMENTARY SERIES “WINE MASTERS”

WORLDWIDE LAUNCH

The worldwide launch of the new cinematic documentary series “Wine Masters” was on 18th March. The series tells the stories of terroir, taste and tradition as expressed by some of the most prestigious winegrowing families in different winegrowing regions.

To add depth to each season, two Masters of Wine, Jeannie Cho Lee and Tim Atkin, will share their knowledge and critical opinions of these regions, their grape varieties, terroirs, wines and wine producers.

Wine Masters Season 1 highlights five French winegrowing regions. It was filmed over the course of a year in the most prominent family-owned winegrowing estates.
In Bordeaux the Merlot and Cabernet Franc story is told by the Boüard de Laforest family, which has owned Château Angélus in Saint-Emilion for eight generations.

THE 2017 VINTAGE

"L'ÉCLATANT"

After a very favourable start to the growing season with a very early bud-break, the vine cycle was delayed at the end of April by a frost which hit the Bordeaux region very severely. At Angélus, where nature was kind, we were mostly spared this sad episode.
However, over the small area affected by the frost, substantial selection work was carried out.
