Every year, the Grands Crus Musicaux festival brings the greatest classical artists to some of the most prestigious Bordeaux chateaux for some unforgettable performances. Angélus has been a partner for three years and is delighted to be hosting one of the most impatiently awaited concerts in the 2016 programme, featuring pianist Marc Laforet with violinist Renaud Capuçon. The Angélus nave will resonate with sonatas by Bach, Mozart and Beethoven performed by these highly celebrated artists on 13th July at 8.0 p.m. with a cocktail tasting afterwards.
PIANIST MARC LAFORET
Marc Laforet is a French pianist with Russian origins, who first performed at the age of 8 at the Champs-Élysées Theatre. After winning a gold medal in Jacqueline Landowski’s class at the Boulogne Conservatory, he joined the Paris Higher National Conservatory of Music in Pierre Sancan’s class, where he was unanimously awarded first prize and went on to do advanced studies. Marc Laforet is especially recognized for the emotion he expresses as he plays and the sheer brilliance of his performances of a very wide repertoire including Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Chopin, Scriabine, Rachmaninov, Jänacek, Franck, Debussy, Ravel and many others. Marc always plays works by Chopin during part of his recitals. He is considered to be one of our best Chopin pianists. Since 2003, he has directed the Grands Crus Musicaux festival, held in July every year in Bordeaux chateaux.
