VINEYARD: DIRECT SEEDING

For several years now, Angélus has been fully committed to sustainable vine-growing practices and to increasing its range of viticultural methods. In line with this undertaking, our teams have been seeding different plant species in the vineyard, and this year common vetch, green pea and secale sylvestre have been sown in inter-rows that are usually ploughed.  Commonly used in vine-growing, seeds are an additional agronomic lever supporting the work carried out by our vineyard crew throughout the year.

NEWS FROM THE CELLARS

In Château Angélus’s first year cellar, the ageing of the 2018 vintage, in barrels and for the first time in foudres, continues its course. Our teams are taking care that the elegance of the tannins and the aromatic purity of this outstanding wine, on a par with the estate’s great vintages, are being maintained.

FIGHTING AGAINST FROST

The technical teams, aided by a number of staff volunteers from the estate, set up anti-frost devices (lanterns and wind machines) during the night of 13th April to fight off frost effectively between the hours of 3 and 7 in the morning, the coldest and most dangerous time for the vines. This operation was repeated this weekend.

OUR HORSE –A VINEYARD WORK COMPANION

An integral part of Angélus now for generations, the work of horses contributes to the preservation of our terroirs. Participating in a sustainability and environmental performance improvement programme, Angélus chooses the most appropriate techniques for its vineyard, whether they be the most modern or the most time-honoured ancestral ones.

THE TED ROBOT

A rather strange device has been operating in the Angélus vineyard these last few weeks. A robot in fact by the name of Ted, which is a silent, driverless, over-the-row tractor made by the Toulouse company Naïo Technologies.
