During the 13th International Classical Music Festival, Angélus received the pianist Andrei Korobeinikov, who played pieces by Scriabin, Chopin and Schumann to an audience of 350, all spell-bound before the amazing talent of this young virtuoso.  

Born in 1986 in Moscow, this young pianist has performed in more than 20 countries and won more than 20 national and international competitions. Especially memorable were the 2004 international Scriabin competition and the Los Angeles Rachmaninov competition in 2005, when he also won the audience prize. He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory at just 19 years old with the special “Best Musician of the Decade” distinction. In 2005, Andrei continued his studies at the London Royal College of Music with a G. & J. Simmonds scholarship.

Today he is regularly invited to play around the world and performs with top-flight orchestras, such as the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow City Symphony or “Russian Philharmonic”, the Philharmonia Orchestra,  Berlin’s Konzerthausorchester, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg’s NDR Sinfonierorchester, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the French National Orchestra,  the Paris Chamber Orchestra, The Orchestra of Bordeaux, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and many others. He has worked with the following conductors: Yuri Temirkanov, Ivan Fisher, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Okko Kamu, Antoni Wit and Alain Altinoglu, etc.

Andrei Korobeinikov performs recitals and chamber music with famous musicians such as Vadim Repin,  Alexandre Kniazev, Henri Demarquese and Dmitri Makhtin, in some of the worlds renowned venues and festivals: Théâtre des Champs Elysées, the Radio France Festival in Montpellier, the International Piano Festival in La Roque d’Anthéron, the Folle Journée Festival in Nantes and Tokyo,  the Auditorium du Louvre, London’s Wigmore Hall, the Gstaadt Festival, the Moscow Conservatory, the Washington Performing Arts Center, Tokyo’s  Suntory Hall, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Zurich’s Tonhalle and many more. In 2013, Korobeinikov made a superb tour of the US and Russia, invited by and in the company of Vadim Repin.  

Aside from all this, his outstanding talent extends to other fields. At the age of 17, he qualified as a lawyer at the Moscow European Law University with commendations from the examining jury and has published several legal works, especially on intellectual property law. In recent years, he has developed a real passion for composing and has presented his works during several recitals. 

Andrei Korobeinikov records for the Mirare music label. In 2008, his first album dedicated to Scriabin was hailed as a great success and acclaimed by the musical press: it was awarded a “Diapason Découverte” and a “Diapason d’Or de l’Année” by Diapason magazine and a “Choc” by the musical revue Classica. He then made a record dedicated to Beethoven’s sonatas and bagatelles. After this, he recorded Shostakovich’s Preludes Op. 34 and the two piano concertos with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra conducted by Okko Kamu. His interpretation was hailed by the music press with a Diapason d’Or, etc. For his next CD, Andrei Korobeinikov returned to his exploration of Scriabin’s repertoire by recording all the piano studies at the Bayerisch Rundfunk; the recording was internationally acclaimed.

His future commitments include a tour with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Yuri Temirkanov, concerts  with the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Pinchas Steinberg, the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra with Dmitri Liss, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow, conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev, NHK Philharmonic Orchestra with Vladimir Fedoseyev, and recitals all round the world: Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and the Taipei National Concert Hall to name but a few. He has also scheduled two tours in Japan and Canada with the violinist Vadim Repin.
