By way of twenty original drawings inspired by L’Angélus of Jean-François Millet, the artist has offered a journey taking us around the world.
As part of its policy to develop the sponsorship of art, Angélus gave carte blanche to Floc’h, the master of the “clear line”, to create an original work that reflected his view of the wine estate today.
Floc’h thus produced twenty drawings inspired by Jean-François Millet’s L’Angélus, an iconic work in which the great 19th century painter immortalised the moment of prayer marking the end of the day’s labours in the fields.
The photographer Johan Berglund accompanied us throughout this harvest casting an artist’s eye on Angélus and providing a unique perspective in a collection of images which we share with you here.

CHÂTEAU ANGELUS
This year, Les Grandes Heures offers a programme of concerts around the theme of “The muses’ children”, performed in great chateaux of the Bordeaux region. Angélus, a historic partner of this event, will host the pianist Piotr Anderszewski on 12th September at 8.30 p.m. This virtuoso will play pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The Saint-Émilion Jazz Festival brings together each year outstanding international musicians to perform in the heart of Saint-Emilion’s UNESCO world heritage site. Angélus, as one of the partners of this 6th edition, is delighted to host within its walls “La Dégustation Musicale”, which will be performed by the jazz musician Yaron Herman. Dégustation Musicale is an event which calls on each of the senses. In performing this work the artist is presented with the challenge of improvising music to interpret the wines of Angélus, an exercise that requires great sensitivity.
Angélus is a partner of the 11th Philosophia Festival, a major literary event that has become a popular success. It will be held this year from 24th to 28th May around the theme of “The Body”.
Angélus is a partner in the photo and video exhibition "ROUGE", by Romain and Nicolas Claris, which takes place from 2nd May to 12th June 2017 at the Galerie du Relais & Châteaux at the Hôtel Le Saint-James at Bouliac. The artists exhibiting offer a true celebration of the colour red in all its forms.
Every year, the Grands Crus Musicaux festival brings the greatest classical artists to some of the most prestigious Bordeaux chateaux for some unforgettable performances. Angélus has been a partner for three years and is delighted to be hosting one of the most impatiently awaited concerts in the 2016 programme, featuring pianist Marc Laforet with violinist Renaud Capuçon. The Angélus nave will resonate with sonatas by Bach, Mozart and Beethoven performed by these highly celebrated artists on 13th July at 8.0 p.m. with a cocktail tasting afterwards.
